Pattinapakkam sea shore, area which consists of about 5000 families, were severely affected in the recent flood. Several houses were washed away and the entire locality was not being maintained well, leading to the spreading of various diseases besides causing environmental pollution.
To address both these issues, Sri Ramakrishna Math initiated a year long programme to keep the seashore clean and tidy on April 14. A group of people, with a battery operated vehicle, will visit the residents everyday to collect garbage.
In addition to that, 22 houses constructed for the fishermen were handed over to them on that day.
Both these programmes were inaugurated by the President of Ramakrishna Math, Chennai – Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj and the purna kumbam was given to all the beneficiaries of the houses.
