Justice. K. Chandru, a retired Judge of Madras High Court has taken over as the president of the school managing committee of Savitri Ammal Oriental Higher Secondary School, Mylapore. He will be serving in that capacity for the next three years.
The school is a fully aided private school with classes from VI to XII. It also has an English medium section. Free education is imparted at this school which has been around for 58 years.
Asked about his new assignment, Justice Chandru said his first task would be to increase the strength of the school. He plans to achieve this by going around the area with the school staff and convincing the parents to enrol their children in this school. He also intends to seek the support of the resident welfare associations, local community leaders and Ramakrishna Mutt in his endeavour to improve the standards at the school.
