More than 500 devotees lined up outside Sri Karaneeswarar Temple, Mylapore to participate in the Thiruther celebrations held yesterday (April 19). Men and women, including senior citizens, were seen taking turns to pull the ther down the streets. Held as part of the Chitirai festival at the temple, the festivities will end with the Thirukalyanam on Friday, April 22 at 7.30 p.m.
Special cultural programmes have also been organised at the temple from April 24 – May 3 and will include carnatic music, bhajans, thevaram, upanyasams and more. At Bazaar Road, Mylapore. Ph: 24985112.
