A silver kavacham for the deity – Purushamirugam was donated by the members of Thiruvasaga Thirusabhai today.
Srikanth, a member, says “About 20 members donated to this cause. On the fourth day of Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple – Panguni festival the deity is carried out in procession on this vahanam. Purusha mirugam is one of the biggest devotees of Lord Shiva. As the name suggests, he is half man and half animal. Work on this kavacham started about four months ago”.
Members of this Mylapore based organisation have been actively involved in religious activities at the temple since 1996. An Aksharamana malai parayanam is done by them everyday. The members also take turns to pluck the flowers growing around the temple everyday. Srikanth says, “About 5 of us sit opposite Kumaran Stores everyday, tie the flowers and offer it to the deity at the temple. We have been doing this since 2001”.
