The 17th graduation ceremony of Dr. MGR Janaki College of Arts & Sciences for Women in R. A. Puram was held on March 3 at Narada Gana Sabha.
Over 800 graduates and post–graduates received their degree certificates.
Declaring the convocation ceremony open, the correspondent, Dr. Latha Rajendran, welcomed the gathering. The principal, Dr. R. Manimekalai, presented the annual report.
In his graduation address, the governor of Telengana and Andhra Pradesh, E S L Narasimhan, said the graduates have to cope with the rapid changes taking place in various fields of knowledge and technology and urged the students to follow two important guiding principles, Satyam Vada and Dharmam Chara in all their future endeavours.
He quoted from the life of MGR and asked the students to have the courage of conviction in their role as game changers of the society and be proud of their alma mater, of their cultural legacy and of their nation.
He then distributed the Certificates of University rank holders and endowment prizes. Dr. Latha Rajendran administered the pledge to the students.
