Sunaada Trust is organising an Akhila Bharatiya Harikatha Utsav on Feb 8 and 9 at BVB, Mylapore 4 p.m. K. Ayyanar, Indian Council for Cultural Relations, will be the chief guest for the inaugural function on Feb 8 at 4 p.m.
An introduction to Chakyar Koothu will be given by K. N. Sree Kumar, hony. secretary, Sri Swati Tirunal Sangita Sabha, Tiruvananthapuram. This will be followed by a harikatha performance by B. R. Nagaraja Rao.
On Feb 9, events that will be held include ‘Srinivasa Kalyanam’ – a harikatha by Sindhuja and group, Burrakatha – Veera Abhimanyu by SK. Babuji and Villupattu by Bharathi Thirumagan.
The Trust is also organising an event to celebrate artist S. Rajam’s 97th birth anniversary on Feb 10. The chief guest is Dr. P. Venkat Rangan, vice chancellor, Amritha University. The special address will be given by R. T. Chari, M. D., TAG Group of Companies. S. Rajam’s Award of Excellence will be presented to bharatanatyam guru Nandini Ramani and to villupattu exponent Dr. Rajkumar Bharathi. Priyadarshini Govind, director, Kalakshetra and V. Ramnarayan, editor-in-chief, Sruti will felicitate the awardees. At Narada Gana Sabha, Alwarpet, 4 p.m.
