Two schools celebrated their annual day at M. A. M. Muthiah Hall at R. A. Puram recently – Kumara Rani’s Chettinad Vidyalaya on Jan 28 and Chettinad Vidyashram on Jan 29 and 30.
On Jan 28, the cultural extravaganza began with a prayer song. The progression of the school over a period of 30 years was then depicted through a presentation. Later the tiny tots entertained the audience with a variety of programmes that included a dance with props, a musical skit, a melange of east and west choreographed to the vibrant strings of the veena, an aquatic waltz taking one
through the water world in search of Nemo and more. The event ended with a lively presentation of yesteryears jingles.
At Chettinad Vidyashram’s 30th annual day for primary students held on Jan 29, the theme was Navaratri. The chief guest was N. Venugopal, IPS-DIG, CISF, South Zone, Chennai. The event started off with the welcome address by the secretary and correspondent Dr. Meena Muthiah followed by a presentation of the annual report by the principal – S. Amudha Lakshmi.
Later the cultural fiesta was kicked off with an invocation dance ‘Bharata Sourabham’ and a contemporary dance ‘Jeevana Vinyasam’. A provoking English play ‘The Circe of Life’, a foot tapping Hindi dance, a Tamil play and a fusion dance kept the audience rooted in their seats. The event ended with a Tamil dance drama.
Ravindranath, Commissioner of Service Tax, Chennai was the chief guest at Chettinad Vidyashram’s annual day held for seniors on Jan 30. All the programmes were centered around the theme for that evening – ‘Soundarya Lahari’. Various cultural events depicting the beauty in our daily lives were put up including a semi classical dance – ‘Adharam Madhuram’, a Tamil play, a western dance, an
English play – ‘Cleopatra’ and a Hindi dance.
