At Ramakrishna Math, Jan 1 is observed as Kalpataru (wish-fulfilling) Day as it is believed that Sri Ramakrishna blessed his devotees with whatever good they sought on this day. The celebrations this year will start at 5 a.m. with a mangala arati. Later a special puja and a homam will be held. In the evening, there will be a reading from ‘The Gospel of the Holy Mother’ followed by Lalitha Sahasranamam chanting and bhajans by students of Sarada Vidyalaya.
The birthday Tithi puja of Sri Sarada Devi will also be celebrated on this day. Devotees will be allowed to offer flowers at the old shrine. A special discount of upto 40% on books and 15% on magazine subscriptions will be offered on this occasion. For details contact the math at 24621110.
