The Vintage Concert Series at The Music Academy is a program to enable rasikas and students of Carnatic music to listen to and enjoy archival recordings of concerts that were held at The Music Academy. The program starts with an introductory lecture by an eminent Carnatic musician, who gives a glimpse into the style and nuances of the music of the featured artist. This is followed by the archival concert interspersed with commentary before each piece. This is a rare opportunity, since these recordings are not available commercially, and many of them are being heard for the first time.
The upcoming program of the Vintage Concert Series is on Tuesday, Dec 1, 6.30 p.m. at the Kasturi Srinivasan Hall, The Music Academy. The program will feature Mudicondan Venkatarama Iyer, and will be presented by renowned Carnatic musician, musicologist and teacher R.Vedavalli.
