The colonies located on the seaside are experiencing heavy gusts of wind as the cyclonic weather lashes the city. The rain is down to a bit since this morning but in places like San Thome and Foreshore Estate, overnight rains have left streets flooded.
Many avenue trees have fallen down due to the gusty winds – in R A Puram and Mandaveli, as we went around the areas we saw trees or branches of trees lying on the streets.
In some places residents manages to pull the branches to the side. Elsewhere, civic teams have been responding.
San Thome High Road in parts was flooded since last evening – the newly dug wells on the side could not take in the growing streams of rainwater.
In inner streets, where the drain system is not good water has been stagnating, thus affecting people’s lives.
Schools have been closed for the day following a state order.
