Two groups in the Mylapore area are organising music festivals during the second week of October:
A Navarathri music festival has been organised by Kartik Fine Arts from Oct 13 – 22. The festival will comprise of a series of music concerts by up and coming artistes and a two day discourse by Priya Kishore titled ‘Mupperum Deveyarin Magimaigal’. Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s music festival will be held from Oct 12 – 22. The chairman of Bhavan’s, Chennai Kendra – L. Sabaretnam will preside over the inaugural function to be held on Oct 12 at 6 p.m. M. Murali, managing director, Sri Krishna Sweets and Kodandarami Setti, managing director, Vivek Limited are guests of honour. The inaugural function will be followed by a thematic music presentation on ‘Nava Durgas’ by Cuddalore S. J. Jananiy (lyrics by Dr. Bhavani Jayanthi). At East Mada Street, Mylapore.
