Cinema Rendezvous, a registered non profit trust working on art and culture, instituted the ‘Bala Kailasam Memorial Award’ to celebrate filmmaker Bala Kailasam and to honour media personnel for their innovative use of media towards social causes.
This year, the award will be given to Haobam Paban Kumar for his Manipuri documentary film – ‘Phum-Shang’ (Floating Life) at a ceremony to be held at The Savera Hotel on Oct 26. Actress Suhasini Maniratnam is the special invitee. The award will carry a citation and a cash portion of Rs. 50, 000. The award ceremony will be followed by the screening of the award winning documentary. At R. K. Salai, Mylapore, 5.30 p.m. onwards.
