The department of biochemistry and bioinformatics and clinical trial management of Dr. MGR Janaki College for Women organised a national seminar on ‘Innovative Bioresearch – Publish and Relish’ at its campus at R. A. Puram on Sep 14 and 15. The seminar was inaugurated by Dr. A Gopala Krishna, prof, Dept. of Biotechnology, IIT Madras, Chennai.
On day one, prof. Raj Gururajan, University of Southern Queensland, Australia and Dr. Aparna Kasinat from Syngene International Ltd., Bangalore talked about the benefits of sharing scientific knowledge and urged the students to involve themselves in research programmes.
Day two opened with a lecture on ‘Biocompatible Three Scaffold for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine’ by Dr. Solomon F. D. Paul, head, department of human genetics, Sri Ramachandra University, Chennai. This was followed by talks by Dr. Mukesh Doble, IIT Madras on ethics in research and Dr. Shanthi Krishnamoorthy, TNQ Books and Journals on the opportunities available in the field of publishing.
The event ended with the valedictory address by Dr. Shyamala. K, dean, Academic Affairs. About 70 participants from several city colleges participated in this event.
