They waited patiently. For over a week. And now they have set up shop.
The hawkers of dolls on North Mada Street are open for business and Sunday was just the lazy morning to set up shop and make the displays even as traffic lazed up and down and some shops pulled up their shutters.
At least 15 hawkers are ready for business and have displayed a range of dolls. But most of them are gaudy and sharp in color. from 2 inch ones to some that sell at Rs.5000.
In many places, the images of the Carnatic music trinity, the composers are displayed – perhaps an indication that these are sought by shoppers.
More hawker stalls should come up this week and the market will be abuzz soon.
