Kala Sadhanalaya is organising a dance festival as a tribute to the life and works of guru Mangudi Dorairaja Iyer at BVB, Mylapore on Aug 7 and 9.
The festival will be inaugurated by Seetha Ravi, former editor, Kalki on Aug 7. A bharathanatyam solo by Anjana Anand and ‘Param – the ultimate’ presented by Sridevi Nrithayalaya and choreographed by guru Sheela Unnikrishnan will follow the inauguration.
On Aug 9, students of Kala Sadhanalaya will give a group presentation. Later, disciples of guru Chitra Visweswaran will present ‘Kollaru Pathigam’, a performance based on Thirugnaana Sambandar’s Thevaram. Mathai Vithamma of Sri Muthukrishna Swami Mission Trust is one of the attendees.
Kala Sadhanalaya was founded by dancer Revathi Ramachandran in 1986. She is a direct disciple of guru Mangudi Dorairaja Iyer. The dance school is based at St. Mary’s Road, Abhiramapuram. Contact: 9884097597.
