Several groups celebrated the nations’s 69th Independence Day today. Here are a few snapshots:
Students of Vidya Mandir, Luz take a selfie at the Independence Day celebrations held at the school premises today. Students of classes VI and above assembled at 8 a.m. today morning to hoist the flag.
At Kalyana Nagar Association, Mandavelipakkam, the flag was hoisted by senior citizen and president of the association – Dr. S. M. Srinivasan. About 30 members attended this event. Chocolates were distributed after the flag hoisting ceremony.
At Aashiana Apartments, Venus Colony, Alwarpet, the celebrations started as early as 7 a.m. A beautiful kolam was made by the residents on this special occasion.
A cultural performance was put up by the students of Sivaswami Kalalalya Senior Secondary School, Mylapore at their school campus for Independence Day.
At Sree Karpagavalli Vidyalaya School, Mylapore students received prizes for a speech competition held earlier. A special breakfast was provided to all the students by Lion Guindy R. L. Selvam. A cultural programme was also held.
At Andhra Mahila Sabha, R. A. Puram, children gathered to welcome the chief guest Dr. T. Ramasami, former secretary to Govt. of India, Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi. The event started off with a march past followed by the oath taking ceremony. Later a cultural programme was held.
Members of the mosque at Arundale Street, Mylapore hoisted the national flag after their morning prayers. They also distributed sweets and flags to the people who passed by.
