The Department of Environment, Govt. of Tamil Nadu gives cash awards to schools that choose to actively pursue environmental activities like conducting green camps, saving energy and keeping the campus plastic free.
In this regard, 38 Govt., aided and corporation schools were given cash prizes of Rs. 20000 and Rs. 10000 each by A. Anitha, CEO of Chennai district in the presence of G. Thangaraj, district coordinator of Environmental Information Dissemination Centre, Numgambakkam at a function held at CPR Environmental Education Centre, Alwarpet recently.
The efforts of the coordinators of the school were appreciated and the need to maintain a green plastic free environment was highlighted.
