The members of Kamakshi Suvasini Mandali, a Mylapore based religious group, donated a wooden puli (tiger) vahanam to Velleswarar Temple, Mylapore during the Vaikasi Brahmotsavam celebrations held at the temple recently.
Established about five years ago by a few women on a small scale, this group has now expanded to include more than 30 members. The group meets every Friday at the temple for a Lalitha Sahasranama parayanam and also get-together during important festivals.
Donations are collected from the members and all of them are more than happy to pay says V. Gayathri – a member. Other contributions also include a gold coated ashtotra kasu malai given in 2010 and a simha vahanam donated in 2014. For details contact 24933556.
