There is a lot of buzz around the famed Kalki Krishnamurthy work, Ponniyin Selvan because stage productions based on it are working overtime. Hence one has been witnessing a slew of promos and banners and print ads from all sides. All pushing their own stage production on this immortal novel.
Last week, a private team staged the drama at Narada Gana Sabha. Another has begun to promote its own version to be staged elsewhere.
The big one, promoted by SS International and staged by The Magic Lantern drama company is to have its second cycle of shows at Music Academy in early July. Its promos were small but when it found that others were also staging the drama, their won promo ads are bigger now. When this show was first staged last year at the Academy, the shows sold out. The same is expected this time too – a new gimmick is to offer the novel to early bird ticket bookers.
SS International is selling tickets now from its Luz Avenue office.
