The on-going feud between M. A. M. Ramaswamy and his adopted son M. A. M. R. Muthiah took a new turn yesterday. M. A. M. Ramaswamy alleged that some men, set up by his son, entered his residence at Chettinad Palace in MRC Nagar on Saturday and tried to remove some documents from the house. He claimed that one of his servants was also attacked in the process.
Muthiah’s lawyers denied the charges and insisted that Ramaswamy had prevented his son access to his rooms and office inside Chettinad Palace. 14 people have been arrested.
This is not the first time that such allegations have been made.
The feud between father and adopted son became public last August when MAM lost the vote to be reappointed as director of the company. He blamed his son of trying to take control of the company away from him. Muthiah denied allegations of a familial power struggle citing that as the sole heir to his father’s assets, there was no need for a struggle. He also indicated that even if MAM was the figure head at the helm of the company, he (Muthiah) had been running the company for last 15 years.
