Every full moon day, Sri Kapaleeswarar along with Karpagambal is taken out on a procession along the Mada streets. The event has been happening for about 2 years now, and this time it is scheduled on May 3. Legend has it that on full moon days, the ‘sithars’ do their ablutions in the Kapali pond and then pay their respects to the Gods in the temple. The procession is taken out in commemoration of this belief.
The procession will start in front of the Sri Annamalair sannithi inside the temple at 6.45 p.m. After a round inside, the procession will head out onto the Mada streets, accompanied by bhajans, chanting of vedas and nama sankeerthanams by devotees.
