About 100 special children of V-Excel Educational Trust presented a musical – ‘Garden of Light’ depicting the journey of earth’s revival to a beautiful landscape at their annual day celebrations held on Mar 19 at Narada Gana Sabha, Alwarpet. The chief guest was Dr. T. V. Somanathan, director (special projects), The World Bank and the guest of honour was Dr. Mariazeena Johnson, director, Sathyabama University.
The students who have been preparing for this event for about three months contributed to the script and also hand crafted the props ( a rock castle, mines, quarries, a high wall, grass lands and mountains) themselves.
Skills taught to the students on a regular basis like socialization skills, language and movement were incorporated into the musical. Yoga, which is a part of the curriculum for older children, was also integrated into their performance.
The trust invites volunteers and teachers to apply at their centers at Mandaveli, Mylapore and Adyar. Admissions are open and students can apply too. Those interested can contact the trust at 10/23, Thiruvengadam Street, R. A. Puram. Ph: 24956373.
