P.S.Nandini, a former student of Sir Sivaswami Kalalaya, Mylapore has been awarded the ‘Young Talent Award’ under the arts and crafts category, given by the South Zone Cultural Centre, Thanjavur, Govt. of India. The Centre is one of the seven nationwide regional cultural centres set up by the Govt. of India to promote regional culture and art forms. The award conferred during a ceremony held at Udupi, Karnataka on Mar 13 also included a cash price of Rs.10,000.
Nandini was also one of the three students from Tamil Nadu to be awarded the National Bal Shree Award by the Govt. of India for the year 2011 in the ‘Creative Arts’ category. She is currently in her first year at SASTRA University and resides at “Thirumalai Agam”, 49/25, Narasimhapuram, Mylapore.
