This may be a very symbolic ritual but for people who are regulars and close to Sri Kapali Temple, the February 28 evening event that opens the annual Panguni festival here was a ‘must-attend’ one on their list. The ‘lagna patrikkai’ reading, a prelude to the Panguni fest leading to the celestial kalyanam was held on a grand scale inside the temple.
Watching it and participating in it were a few hundred people. The ritual started at about 6 pm on Saturday evening in the presence of all the deities here. One which in many ways resembled a modern day ceremony.
