More than 400 people gathered at CSI St. Luke’s Church, Mandaveli to celebrate Palm Sunday on Mar 29. It is believed that on this holy day, Jesus rode a donkey into Jerusalem and the people sang songs and laid down their cloaks and small branches of trees in front of him.
A procession was held from Mandaveli market to the church with people dressed in colourful costumes and the entire scene was re-enacted much to the delight of the worshippers. The members of the procession also carried palm leaves in the form of a cross and sang songs in praise of the Lord. The celebrations ended with a Mass after which refreshments were served.
