The Children’s Club Society, Mylapore organised inter-school competitions for children recently. About 500 children from 40 schools all over Chennai participated in carnatic and hindustani vocal, violin, bhajans, folk music, drama, recitation, story telling and several other competitions. An open art competition was also held. The prizes for these competitions were distributed during the Founders’ Day celebration held on Feb 22 at Tattvaloka Hall, Eldams Road.
The event began with vocal performances by several students followed by recitation and story-telling in multiple languages. The chief guest was Anil Srinivasan, pianist and founder of Rhapsody Music Foundation, and the guest of honour was sanskrit scholar A. Durgadevi. The runner-up shield was lifted by P. S. Senior Secondary School, Mylapore.
