Musician and scholar Dr. Sumathi Krishnan is presenting today ( Nov.22) a thematic programme based on Mysore composers. It is at Raga Sudha Hall, Luz Avenue at 6 p.m. This is the fourth in a series of programmes titled “The Maharajas & the Music of South India, Royal & Court Composers and musicians in the 18th, 19th & early 20th centuries ” and is supported by the Ministry of Culture, New Delhi.
The programe will include a multimedia presentation on the compositions of Mysore Vasudevachar, Bidaram Krishnappa, Belakawadi Srinivasa Iyengar,Muthiah Bhagavatar and Sri Jayachamaraja Wodeyar.
Dr. S. A. K. Durga, Director of the Center for Ethnomusicology, Chennai & Professor Emeritus, Department of Indian Music, University of Madras, presides and N. V. Subramaniam, Managing Trustee Saraswathi Vaggeyakara Trust will be a special guest.
