On August 17, the M. R. C. Nagar Residents Association is conducting a walkathon to create awareness on source segregation and solid waste management. The aim is to make Ward 173 a model ward. The waste-to-wealth concept was borne a year ago when corporation commissioner Vikram Kapur visited the colony. Some members have been composting at home. The residents of the independent houses in this area segregate dry waste on a regular basis and are looking for wet waste solutions. The commissioner will inaugurate a compost pit at 6 a.m. The walkathon begins at 6.30 a.m. from Rani Meyyammai Towers and will cover a 5 km radius. Ph: 9840894992.
