Dr. R. Akthar Begam took charge as the new Principal of Queen Mary’s College, Mylapore, July 1. She did her M.Com from S.I.E.T. College, Chennai, M.Phil from A.M. Jain College and Ph.D from Pachaiyappa’s College, Chennai. (Her thesis: Causes and Effects of Stress on Executives of MNCs in Chennai)
She started her career in 1982 at Kumbakonam Govt. Arts College. From 1983 to 2013, for 30 years, she worked as HOD, Commerce Department at Quaid-e- Millath Government College for Women, Chennai.
Her last posting before joining QMC was at Rajeswari Vedachalam Government Arts College, Chingleput as Principal.
She is a member of TNPSC and TRB as a subject expert. She is a member of Staff Selection Board, New Delhi.
She says she is fortunate to be a Principal when the college is in its centenary year.
