Over 300 people attended the Thiru-kalyanam religious event held at Sri Velleswarar Temple on South Mada Street in Mylapore on Thursday night. This was part of the annual vaikasi celebrations that have been on here this week.
Two groups of devotees made handsome donations to this temple on the eve of the vaikasi celebrations.
Members of the Kamatchi Suvashini Sangam donated a simha vahanam while a brand new adikara nandi vahanam was donated by the ‘Mylai’ Periyannan family which resides in New Street, Mylapore. The latter was made by an achari in Kellys.
The Sangam is made up of about 30 women who undertake religious practices at this temple and at Sri Kapali Temple throughout the year.
