A unique Womens Day event got underway at the MGR Janaki College for Women campus in R A Puram today.
At least 100 students came forward to donate a part of their locks for a cause – to be used in the making of wigs for women who suffer from cancer and suffer hair loss due to therapy.
Since this morning, students who volunteered for this donation were called by turn to the campus hall and hair dressers clipped off the locks and collected the hair.
There were so many donors that six hair dressers were requisitioned for the job and a turn system was followed. “We clipped off the lengths that each girl wanted us to clip,” said a volunteer here.
Naturals salon has co ordinated this unique event.
