Industrialist E. K. Parthasarathy passes away

Industrialist E. K. Parthasarathy, a resident of Boat Club area in R. A. Puram passed away on February 11. He was the Chairman of the Madras Engineering Industries, which he founded.

His company was in the business of automotive components and went on to become the international leader in the manual slack adjustors business. Later, through R&D the company made automatic versions of this product.

His company also held many international patents for products incubated at the plant’s R&D centre.

He was also a philantrophist, funding education and healthcare and the Parthasarathys are known to have transformed their native Thandalam village near Arakkonam into a model one with the best in sanitation, women’s welfare, education and healthcare here.

Parthasarathy was once the president of the Madras Club.

He leaves behind his wife Radha, on Sanjay and daughters Priya Sriram and Ramya Narayanan.

  1. I worked for him in MEI between 1989 and 1990.

    He was an excellent mentor and would insist on Finance guy knowing Technical aspects including the intricacies of various process that goes into a product.

    Still following his teachings.

  2. A great soul. A visionary person. Forward thinking. I am fortunate to work under him for five years. No words to explain his greatness and humanitarian approach. I have number of scincilating experiences with him. I miss a lot nowadays. RIP
