‘A Classical December’ rolled off to a great musical start on December 15 with a performance by Anil Srinivasan on the piano and Sikkil Gurucharan on vocals in a ‘Tchaikovsky meets Thyagaraja’ composition called ‘Flower Gatherers’.
Today’s show is titled ‘An Indian Musical Journey’ and will be performed by vocalist O. S. Arun. It is a medley of songs presented in the artiste’s unique style. The lilting numbers will highlight the compositions of saints across the country, in a variety of languages.
Accompanists are Karaikal Venkatasubramanian on the violin, Venkatasubramanian on the mrudangam, S.Ganapathy on the tabla, Chandrashekhar on the harmonium, and Freddy on the thalam.
Organised by Tchaikovsky Music Club and Russian Centre for Science & Culture, the event is taking place at the newly furbished hall of Russian Cultural Centre on 74, Kasturi Ranga Road, Alwarpet at 6 p.m. today. Entry is free. The programme is on till December 19.
