There was heightened activity in many nooks of Mylapore on Monday morning, the day of Vijayadasami as places of learning – academic, religious and the arts – lead with prayers and rituals.
Since this morning, music teachers who also use technology to teach overseas students were on Skype, allowing their students to go through the time honoured tradition.
In many music and dance academies, events began after 9 a.m. as students gathered at the houses or schools of their gurus to attend the Vijayadasami ceremonies.
Photos here show guru Kumadha taking veena classes at Brhaddhavani in R A Puram and flutist K. Bhaskar leading his students at his place on Musiri Subramaniam Street, Mylapore.
