This is one Carnatic music festival which will mean a lot to its promoter as well to many young artistes. For, it is dedicated to late Ranjani Hebbar, a Carnatic music vocalist who made a mark in the city of Chennai and succumbed to cancer when she was just in her 30s.
Ranjani moved to Mylapore to further her training in music and lived here after her marriage and was among the regulars on stage in the music circuit.
Now, veteran arts promoter P. Ramabhadran who founded and guides SAFE ( Shanthi Arts Foundation and Endowments), also in memory of his daughter he lost young has dedicated this year’s music fest to Ranjani.
SAFE has been hosting its youth music fest annually for many years now.
This time it is at Raga Sudha Hall, Luz from Sept.27 to Oct.4. It features among others J B Keerthana, Karthick Narayan, Brinda Manikkavachagam, Charumathi Raguraman, K P Nandini and Mahadevan Sankaranarayanan
