The Luz Avenue community celebrated the silver jubilee of their residents association on Saturday last, Sept. 28 with a simple event which was attended by the city’s Mayor Saiday Duraiswamy. IAS officer M. Rajaram was also among the special guests.
A buffet dinner for all the guests and members and their families rounded off the evening’s event.
Luz Avenue is a quiet colony set at the rear of the verdant and green Nageswara Rao Park and was once home to large bungalows set inside large gardens. Today, many houses have made way for apartments. Since the Association was formed, residents though have joined hands now and then to address local issues and keep the bonds alive.
One novel act among the residents has been to exchange lighted candles and greet each other on New Year’s eve.
Also, saplings planted on the sides of the avenue have grown into large flowering trees that add to the green-ess of this area.
