The doctor who was assaulted outside Billroth Hospitals last fortnight died of his injuries yesterday. Neurologist Dr S D Subbiah was attacked by a gang outside the hospital in R. A. Puram on Sept.14 and the attack was linked to a property dispute.
The doctor, who retired from the Govt. General Hospital and consulted at Billroth lived in the suburb of Thoraipakkam.
City police are yet to arrest the accused but they have now altered the case to register a case of murder following the doctor’s death.
The photo here shows the spot where the hired gang attacked the doctor; a street corner diagonally opposite one gate of Billroth Hospital.

The area around this hospital is a very busy one, and under cctv surveillance. It is inconceivable that the police have not been able to apprehend the murders even with all the electronic gadgets in their command. I do not take it that our police are inept. It can only be intended inaction.
This is extremely vicious attack and an evil act. Real estate is becoming a major source of illicit income for many people and there are a few who will not stop at doing anything to make money. To kill someone and that too a Doctor who is trained to save lives, is unpardonable. The law enforcement officials should do everything possible to nab the perpetrators and the guilty should be punished with out delay. This will to certain extent curb this sort of heinous acts.
