The annual celebration of the feast of Our Lady of Mylapore at the St Thomas Cathedral will end in a grand manner on Saturday, August 24 evening.
The feast, which began on August 15 here celebrates Mother Mary, whose very vintage image finds a prominent place at a side altar inside the cathedral.
Saint Francis Xavier, the missionary who travelled to these parts is said to have spent much time at this image in prayer in the 16th cent.
On Saturday evening (5p.m.), a car procession from Dooming Kuppam will end at the church campus. A special Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop Rev. George Antonyswamy that evening.
The feast Mass is on August 25.
