Young Carnatic music singer Ranjani Hebbar-Guruprasad, a Mylapore resident passed away on Sunday at her hometown Udupi, Karnataka after battling cancer.
She was ailing for sometime and the end came at a hospital in Manipal, Udupi, south Kanara.
Counted as one of the talented young vocalists in the music world, Ranjani was married to Guruprasad, also a Carnatic artiste and they lived at Shanti Towers on Luz Church Road.
Ranjani came to the city for further music training, being an early student of S. Sowmya and later guru Chengleput Ranganathan. She studied music at the Madras University and was a ‘A’ grade artiste of All India Radio.
