Pianist Anil Srinivasan runs a children’s music initiative called Rhapsody; he says it works with over 45000 school children on a daily basis in city schools, bringing multiple genres of music into school classrooms.
This year, a new initative is being launched by the group alongside NalandaWay, an NGO that works for the cause of children from difficult situations.
On the occasion of World Music Day (this Friday, June 21), Anil says his group is kick-starting a year-long programme with the Corporation of Chennai schools, for musical curriculum upgrades and teacher training, in addition to classroom teaching from some of our trainers.
At 11 a.m., that day, the Joint Commissioner of the Chennai Corporation, Venkatesh will witness this special programme of music sung by Corporation school kids and city school kids at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore. Anil will perform alongside.
