Rosary Matric Girls Higher Secondary School in San Thome was in celebration mood on Thursday, May 9 as news came in that its student S. Kaavya had topped in the State Board Plus Two exams, results for which were announced today.
Kaavya scored 1192 out of a possible 1200 marks but since she has taken French as a language the state does not officially recognise her as a state ranker.
But that did not stop her colleagues and friends from celebrating on campus.
Rosary has of late kept a low profile and this record calls for celebration. The school is run by nuns of the FMM congregation.
Kavyya is the only daughter of Shanmugam and Shanthi and the family resides at Appu Street 2nd Lane. “We used to live in Triplicane but soon after Kaavya got admission at Rosary we shifted here. It is a wonderful school!”, said Shanmugham who is a manager at Central Co-operative Bank, Chennai.
Kaavya lost her cousin in a motor bike accident when the state exams were on, which forced her parents to leave her in the relatives care and in spite of the mental stress she did well and passed out in flying colours, says well-wisher S Venugopalan.
Kaavya is thankful to her school and specially to her class teacher Elizabeth Rani.
She is attending a Foundation course as she prepares to study chartered accountancy even as she attends college.
