With the onset of Chittrai and on the occasion of Tamil New Year, devotees of the Thiruveedhiamman Kovil in 1st Main Road, R.A.Puram conducted an abishekam for the deity.
The distinct feature of this offering was that the devotees themselves could pour the milk over the goddess there, praying for various causes.
Two hundred and twelve people clad in yellow saris participated.
This is the 15th year of celebration, says C.N.Shanmughavel, one of the priests here. The prasadam in return consisted of coconuts and betel leaves in a steel vessel.
