Kshetra Sangeetham, the thematic concert series focussing on temple towns / kshetras has covered 15 temples in the past couple of years. Each programme is a combination of a talk by a scholar / historian on the Kshetra, followed by a concert. The concert would focus on compositions , hymns and slokas composed on that specific Kshetra. This weekend, Kshetra Kasi would be covered as a part of Kshetra Sangeetham.
The event is on April 6 at 6 p.m.at Narada Gana Sabha mini hall
Devaki Muthiah, Tamil scholar and author, will talk about Kasi and its musical significance. This will be followed by a concert by Dr. Vijayalakshmy Subramaniam.
Vocalist and playback singer Charulatha Mani will present “Bhakthi Isai Payanam” on April 6 evening – 6.30 p.m. – at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore. The event is open to all.
Sanjay Subrahmanyam is to perform this evening at Sri Kapali Temple as part of the week long music and dance fest for the Panguni vizha held here. The event starts at 6.30 p.m.
