The Obul Reddy Auditorium in R.K.M Vivekananda College was packed with students in a joyous mood as the community attending the regular stream of classes celebrated their 67th College Day on the 22nd of April.
The event involved honoring retiring members both from the teaching and non- teaching staff departments. They were each presented with a memento and a shawl.
The chief guest for the event, E. Mariappan (Director of news, Doordarshan, Chennai) gave an inspiring speech urging students to imbibe the qualities of tolerance and hard work to shine in the future. He later distributed prizes for achievers both in the academic and sports arena.
Dr. P.K.Ramakrishnan, the retiring Head of Department of Commerce said that he has kept himself abreast with all things new keeping in mind the quality of students. He has created a line of enterprising and vibrant students waiting to reach the outer world calling out to them. He completed 35 years of service.
“It was a great experience. I loved working here. Swami Vivekananda was a huge influence. I go to the mutt every Sunday. The students have been amiable too .” said Kuppan, the office assistant who retired this year.
