Saturday, April 6, 2013 marks vainika late Kalpakam Swaminathan’s second anniversary. On this occasion, there is the release of a print version of the first volume of her notations of Dikshitar kritis, typeset from a notebook of her handwritten notations.
This first volume contains 108 kritis, with shuddha-sahityam and notations in Tamil, that include the Nottusvara Sahityams, kritis on Ganesha, Subrahmanya/Guruguha, Sarasvati, Lakshmi, and Devi, including the Abhayamba Vibhakti kritis and the Kamalamba Navavaranam, constituting roughly a half of the kritis in her notebook.
The function is at Arkay Convention Center in Luz on April 6 between 10am and 12:30pm.
Mangalam Sankar (daughter-in-law of Kalpakam Swaminathan) will preside over the function and hand the first copies of the book to the guests of honor. Dr. S.Seetha, Prof. S.R.Janakiraman, and Thanjavur Kumar are the guests of honor.
The programme will feature a vina recital by S.R.Padmavati and S.R.Radha, accompanied by Thanjavur Kumar on the mridangam.
