All the temples dedicated to Lord Shiva are preparing for the Mahasivaratri celebrations on Sunday, evening onwards.
At Sri Velleeswarar Temple, South Mada Street, Mylapore the special pujas will start from 9 p.m. and there will be four such special pujas ending at about 6 a.m. on Monday.
Discourses will he held on one side on the premises.
Devotees can bring offerings of milk, vibhuthi, fruits and elanir.
At Sri Karaneeswarar Temple, Bazaar Road, temple preists and volunteers were seen cleaning the sannidhi of Lord Shiva; later sandal paste would be applied on the inner wallsk, they said.
Like elsewhere, pujas will be held through the night into the morning on March 10.
At Sri Virupakseeswarar Temple, located on the same road, Sivaratri pujas will be held.
Managers at Sri Kapali Temple did not have any credible information to share on Sivaratri. “We can give information only after the senior officers approve it on file, “ said a staffer here.
This has been the case for some months now – info for the public is never available in advance at what is one of the biggest temples of the city.
