Police protection is being provided to film maker Mani Ratnam at his residence in Alwarpet and his office in R A Puram following a petition he filed in court yesterday.
Ratnam’s plea follows from his plaint that some people who claim to be film distributors have been beseiging his office and home, saying that they should be compensated for losses incurred in the screening of his recent film ‘ Kadal’.
He says that these people threatened his office staff the past week. He adds that though local police responded when he complained of these attacks, he needed 24×7 security.
‘Kadal’, which released 3 weeks ago has had mixed reviews and not been a big hit at the box office though it is still running at city theaters.
