R. Govindachary (90 years) passed away on Nov.29. He was a Mylaporean for the past 80 years.
He joined the Sanskrit College, Mylapore early and received his Sironmani diploma here.
He retired from TVS Madras Auto Service after 35 years of service.
He had varied interests and learned to play the violin and was a disciple of Komalavalli Srinivasan in Mylapore and also imparted music lessons to both his sons.
Govindachary was a voracious reader and also learnt astrology from his father Nathikudi Josier Rangaswamy Iyengar.
He presented many Sanskrit lectures in All India Radio during the late seventies.
He authored a very rare Sri Hanumath Pancharathna Sthothra Malika in Sanskrit. It was also translated by him in Tamil.
He had also written the Narasimha Dhandakam, Varadharaja Dhandakam and the complete Ramayana in 80 slokas named Samkshiptha Ramayana.
