P. A. Ranganathan passed away on Nov.12. He was a resident of Mandaveli for over 50 years. He was 80.
He retired as Assistant Headmaster at P.S. High School, R.K. Mutt Road, after 30 years of service.
Many Mylaporeans would have been his students in the 60s and 70s, says a family member.
He was recently felicitated by his ‘old’ students of 1972 batch at a function in the school premises. He was a regular contributor to the ‘Letters’ column of newspapers including the Mylapore Times.
Said a well-wisher, “He was a strict disciplinarian and one could always find him neatly dressed.”
He is survived by his wife Suguna, son Aravamudhan and daughters Vijayalakshmi and Sudha. The family is at 24, Vedachalam Garden, Mandaveli Street. Ph: 2461 6101.

I had the wonderful opportunity of interacting with this noble soul when i did my 8th standard in 1987-88 in PSHSS. May God bless his soul and give strength to his family to bear this unbearable loss to both themselves and the wider teaching community. $ubramanian
