Nrithyodaya and Narada Gana Sabha have organised ‘Gandhi Mahan Kathai’, a dance performance by Padma Subrahmanyam, actor Vineeth and 45 artistes with live music on Oct.2.

To suit the colloquial Tamil used by author Kotthamangalam Subbu, originally written for Villupaatu, Dr. Padma has composed music and choreographed in folk style.
Gopalakrishna Gandhi, Former Governor, West Bengal, and Chairman of Kalakshetra Foundation, Chennai, will be the chief guest.
This is organised to commemorate the 70th year of Nrithyaodaya and 60th year of Dr. Padma’s continuous stage presence.
Nrithyodaya was founded by film director K. Subrahmanyam, in the year 1942 to impart free training in Bharathanatyam, Kathakali, Kathak, Manipuri, and folk dances.
Presently, Padma is its President. She has been teaching from her 14th year at Nrithyodaya. She has received more than 85 awards including Padmasri, and Padma Bhushan.
She is also the managing trustee of Bharata Ilango Foundation for Asian Culture, a Pan-Asian research centre on performing arts.
